So B. It

The book So B. It is a really interesting story. A girl name Heidi who has a mother who only knows 23 words. One day someone took the baby Heidi and her mother in. She took care of them a lot. Heidi doesn't know anything of her father, her birthday, her grandparents, and what her mothers name is. (She tells them her name is So B. It) Heidi wants to know those stuff, and goes on a trip alone. Read this book to see if she accomplishes her dream and also to find out a real sad event that happens. I like this book, I recommend it. It is interesting and hard to put it down. I don't like it because something sad happens toward the end. Overall I really think you should read this book.

When the Road Ends

The story When the Road Ends is about a Mary Jack who is in a foster home with a child who doesn't speak, a rude boy and a mean and selfish foster mother. The kids are sent to live in a  cabin with the fathers sister and a mean housekeeper who leaves them later. There they have to live by themselves as Mary Jack does most of the work. Will they be able to live together as a family with only Mary Jack as the adult? Read this very interesting and exciting book to find out!

Warriors: Omen of the Stars #3: Night Whispers

In this story, a battle between ThunderClan and ShadowClan is over, and Dovepaw, a Thunderclan apprentice with a strange gift, tries to use her powers for the good of her Clan. Meanwhile Jayfeather and Lionblaze want to figure out why StarClan allowed this battle to happen. Jayfeather  finds the answer in a cave, and he and Lionblaze prepare to do whatever they can to stop some evil force from invading ThunderClan. The peace between the clans has disappeared, making a huge threat to the warriors—and the warrior code. As winter comes closer, Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Dovepaw realize just how close the battle is, and how far they are from being able to win it. I loved this book because it was filled with surprises. I suggest you should read it.

The Nine Lives of Adventure Cat

This story was really interesting, weird and a little sad. So you should read it. I liked it a lot becasue it was about cats. I loooveee cats. Anyway, the story was about a cat who had to live on its own. He went from place to place, maybe being kicked out or not. It was really adventorous. He has 9 lives and is getting killed many times on his way. Read the book to find out if he survives!

Tabby In the Tub

I liked this book really much. It was really interesting. I also like it because it wasn't long or short. In the book there is a story the main character, Mandy Hope finds. That cat is pregnant and they take care of her. Meanwhile Mandy's friend also has a pregnant cat. Also after the babies are born, Mandy's friend's cat gets run over by a car. What will happen to her baby kittens? Will she and her mother survive? Read this book to find out! I really recommend that you read this book in the library or buy it at any book store.

A Reward For Josefina

In this book a girl named Josefina wants to get praise from her aunt Tia Dolores. The only problem is she doesn't know how. Then she gets her chance when she and her family went peanut picking. Then she loses hope because she has to take care of her nephew.  Will she still be able to achieve her goal? Read the book to find out!

Felicity's New Sister

This story is about a girl named Felicity. Her mom is about to have a baby. Her mom's friends suggests that she visits her grandfather so he can take care of her. Rose, their servant says not to because while they are traveling the baby can come. They ended up going anyway. Then they get stuck in rain.  Also Felicity's mom is about to have a baby in the cabin. There is no doctor there. Will Felicity's mom or the baby survive without a doctor? Read the book to find out!

Nightmare at the Book fair

In this book Trip Dinkleman hates book so much. But when a lady asked him to help in a book fair, move some boxes, he is forced to step in the book fair which he promised he wouldn't. When a few boxes fall on him, when he wakes up he appears in a haunted house where someone tries to kill him, turns into a cat, meeting aliens, playing in the super bowl, going to space, being a spy, being accused of murder, being a superhero, being pushed out of a plane and more. Trip realizes its going to be hard to go back home.

Hot Shot

This is a sequel to SLAM DUNK. In this book Julian has to move away and is now the bench player of his new school team. The starter of his position is the coach's son. Julian hardly has any playing time but when the coach's son gets injured Julian finally can show the coach how good he is. Does Julian play good? Will Julian still be a benched player?

SLAM DUNK

In this book Julian (a star center for his school team) starts a new season with a bunch of new players. Last season Julian's team was undefeated. But Julian hardly tries in practice and is pretty mean to the new players. He also has all the pressure on him to play well. One former teammate of Julian helps him be nice to their teammates. After time when the first game starts, they lose but Julian and the practically new team have a positive attitude coming in to the next came and be nice to each other.

Warriors Super Edition: Bluestar's Prophecy

This is probably my favorite book in the series.
In this story, Four Clans of wild cats have shared the forest for many years, living in their territories. But something is threatening Thunderclan, so the cats must be prepared or risk losing food to their hungry neighbors. And at this time, a kit is born.  A prophecy tells that the kit, Bluekit, will be as strong as fire,and her destiny is to blaze through the power of her Clan. But the prophecy also says that an enemy can destroy her.  As Bluekit grows up, she earns her leader name, Bluestar, she fights to protect her Clan. But secrets are revealed, secrets that can destroy ThunderClan.

Moon Over Manifest - An Awesome Historical Fiction Book (Sample Project)

"Moon Over Manifest" by Clare Vanderpool is definitely one of the best books I have ever read, but I wouldn't have guessed that by simply looking at the cover when I first picked it out from the bookstore.  Luckily, I didn't judge the book by its cover and decided to take it home with me.  I have re-read the book so many times that I've lost count of how many times.

Basically, the book is about a girl, Abilene, who is sent to Manifest, the town where her father lived as a boy.  Throughout the book, Abilene tries to discover hidden secrets the town has held for a long time.  More importantly, she wants to find out what her father left behind in the town and why he sent her here.  As an old diviner relates stories of the past to her, Abilene slowly puts pieces of the puzzle together and discovers amazing things about herself, her dad, and the town of Manifest. 

What I love about this book is that it keeps my attention from the beginning until the end.  Even though I've read it so many times, I am still excited to read what happens next (even though I know exactly what will happen).  I think that is because of the author's way of writing.  The book is not too adventurous, but not boring either.  It's not scary, but it has its moments of suspense.  And it is funny, too, which is another thing I like about it.  I also like how it's written as a story in the past so I learn about people who lived during various times in history.  I think the only thing I don't like about the book is that it finishes too quickly.  Obviously that's not a fault of the book since it's long enough (342 pages), but I usually end up finishing the book wishing that I could start again. 

I definitely recommend "Moon Over Manifest" to anyone who just wants to read a good book.  Whether you like history or not, no matter what kind of book you like to read or what age you are, "Moon Over Manifest" is for you. 

Grand Re-Opening of AboutCoolBooks!

AboutCoolBooks is back!  Hooray!  Who's excited to get back to reading awesome books, posting cool projects, and getting tons of points?  I know I am!

The fall contest is beginning TODAY! It will be from August 26 to November 26.  You have three months to do as many projects as you want.  So get your books out because it's time for three months of awesomeness.

Important: Since AboutCoolBooks has been sleeping for a while, it's important that you go back and read through all the rules and information to remind yourself of what you have to do.  Also read through all the awesome projects and see how many points you can get for each one.  There are lots of awesome art projects that you'll probably have lots of fun doing.

One more thing.  To make this season of AboutCoolBooks a whole lot more awesome, we are going to have Bonus Days.  On Bonus Days, any projects you do or comments you write will earn you DOUBLE the amount of points they are usually worth. On those days, I will also be posting some projects to give you an idea of what you're supposed to do.  The first Bonus Day will be on August 31.

Magic Tree House: Christmas In Camelot

In this story, Camelots joy has been taken away!  It it up to Jack and Annie to get the water of Memory and Imagination to help save Camelot.  They must pass guards and dragons to get to the water.  Will they be able to do it?  Or will Camelot will be in darkness forever?

I really liked this story because it is funny, exciting, and adventurous.  I really think you will like it!

''The Big Day''

Today was the day Ally would go to a new school.  She woke up, took a shower, got dressed, and went downstairs to eat breakfast.  When her mother saw her she said, ''Good morning honey.'' And Ally replied,''Good morning, mom.''
After breakfast, Ally waited at the bus stop for 5 minutes, and finally the bus came.  When it stopped, Alley went in and sat.  2 minutes later Ally was at the front of the school.  She took a deep breath and let it out.  Then she started walking up to the door of the school.  Kids stopped and stared at her which she did not like one bit.  She wanted to say to these kids,''Why are you staring at me?!" But of course she kept it inside, for if she said it she would be mocked for the rest of the school year.
At lunch, she did not know where to sit, so she chose a nice spot where some girls were sitting.  Little did she know that those were mean girls.When she came and sat, all the girls looked at her.  The first girl said, "Uh what are you doing here?"
"Just sitting."Ally replied.
The second girl said, "Sitting? SITTING?  You are ruining my best day ever!!"
The third girl said, ''Yeah,go leave.  I don't want to see your face ever again."
Ally wanted to cry but those girls would just call her a cry baby so she sat up, went to the trash bin, dumped all her food inside, and went to the bathroom.
After a few minutes the bell rang.  It was time for recess, usually Ally's favorite thing in school but today she didn't feel like playing, so she went outside and sat on a bench.  When recess was over, it was time to go home.  Ally hoped that she wouldn't meet those three girls again, but she did.  The first girl, who was Marissa said, "Why are you still here?  I thought we made it clear to you to never be in out sight."
The second girl, Amy said, "Yeah, don't you have ears."
The third girl, Harriet didn't speak.  Of course she felt bad for Ally, but didn't show it.  When Ally was finally home,she told her mother everything that happened.  After she finished, her mother looked shocked,then she said, "I must call the principal right away."  And that's exactly what she did.  They gave the girls a 3-day suspension from school and their parents grounded them for a month.  And they finally learned their lesson and apologized.  Ally thought to herself, "This is going to be a great school year."

In this this story the Animorphs meet the Ellimist and he says they have to save a race of aliens from the Howlers.  That race is called the Iskoort. The bad news is the Howlers are VERY dangerous.  Will all the Animorphs be able to save this race?  And will it help the Animorphs?  Read to find out!!  The main character is Jake.

In this story, Cassie and Tobias have strange dreams about the sea and someone calling them from under it.  They think it is an Andalite with a crashed spaceship.  The Animorphs don't know who it really is, but they are going to find out.  The bad news is that part of the space ship washed up on shore.  And now the Yeerks are looking for the Andalite or whoever it may be.  Read the story to find out all the details!  The main character in this story is Cassie.

Kirsten Saves The Day

In this book, Kirsten and her younger brother Peter find a bee tree and decide to get the honey out of it to be able to buy stuff that they want.  But something happens.  One day while Kirsten is about to dip the honey out of the hive, their dog, Caro chases a baby bear and then his mother shows up.  What will happen to Kirsten and Peter?  Will they make it?  Read the book to find out!

Animorphs Megamorphs: In the Time of the Dinosaurs

In this story, the Animorphs (Jake, Marco, Tobias, Cassie and Rachel) go on a mission to find a lost army sub.
But a nuke from the sub goes off, starting a "Sario Rip" or in other words they travel in time.....to the time of the dinosaurs!  Will they be able to make it?  Or will they be lunch for a T-Rex?  I liked this story because it was funny and adventurous.
